Small Businesses Need Social Networking

Do you own or work for a small business? What kind of marketing or advertising strategies have you implemented over the past year? Better question. How much money have you spent on radio, TV, print ads? If you haven't found much in return it might be because your message isn't being heard, in fact it's being ignored.

A recent fall 2010 study from email marketing giant Constant Contact showed that Facebook is now the third most important marketing tactic for small businesses. Media channels that tallied the most "unimportant" to "very unimportant" votes include... you guessed it direct mail, print advertising, and radio respectively. More on this article click here.

2011 will be More Dificult if you're in PR

A recent survey of 508 PR professionals came out showing that 60% of respondents believed PR in 2011 will be more difficult than it was in 2010. The top two reasons for the increased hardships include budgets and the "dynamics of social media." We can all relate to budgets and budget cuts being a major reason due to one of the worst recessions this country has ever seen, but what about the dynamics of social media? For a second, think about all the other media challenges that could present themselves in the field of PR.

TV, radio, direct mail, publications, magazine covers, even email... they have all been done before. What marketers are struggling with currently are the "dynamics of social media" and its ever-changing state. Some of the questions that arise for PR professionals or marketers are how do I use social media? who is using social media? what are consumers talking about on the social web? what about my brand? what about my competitors brand? You can only find the answers to these questions if you're actively engaging in conversations everyday on the social web. A quote from the published survey article reads,
“Social media will be important for two reasons. First, because organizations have found through monitoring that social conversations will occur with or without their participation,” said Breakenridge. “Second, organizations found small victories through experimentation this year and will focus on improving those results next year.
What does this quote and the survey results tell us? Social media isn't going away, and if you're a marketer out there or are in charge of a brand, you need to take social media seriously. Social media is not a fad, it's a fundamental shift in the way we communicate. It's a fundamental shift in the way consumers see your brand, talk about your brand, promote your brand, talk bad about your brand...
"Organizations have found through monitoring that social conversations will occur with or without their participation."
You better start paying attention to what people are saying...

It's time for us marketers to start sinking our teeth into what social media can do for your company's brand, and position the brand in such a way that consumers are educated and moved by your brand in a positive way. Is this not PR 101?

Bush Tax Cuts? or Bush Tax Rates?

What's all this talk about the Bush tax cuts? It's been over two years since President Bush has been at the helm of the greatest country in the world. So why are we calling our current owed taxes "Bush tax cuts" when in fact they are the current Tax Rates! Think about it. When was the last time your taxes have been cut?

Congress should never increase taxes during a recession. That is a fact. But let's start saying what these "tax cuts" really are... Tax Rates!

Social Media is more than just Facebook and Twitter

Let's face it. The most widely used, fastest growing, "why didn't I think of that?" social networks out there are Facebook and Twitter. These personal profile paradigms have changed the way news, media, and conversations are presented and shared forever.

But social media isn't just about wall posts and tweets. What about YouTube? Did you know that YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine in the entire world behind Google? How about Linked in? More that 85% of businesses are using Linked in to find and hire employees! And what the heck is a blog? Status update! You're reading one right now!

How many times have you read a news article online and seen ordinary people acting like critics or proponents in the comment section below the article? Or searched for a new product... say... an iPad... think about visiting any online forums? Consumers are talking about products, politics, sports, events everywhere!

Overwhelmed yet? Let us know if we can help your social media influence. We can have your team or organization looking professional, growing faster, and engaging with thousands of people in just a couple weeks!
